GoCardless payment notifications are not the same as a branded PDF receipt. GoCardless does not email customers a branded PDF receipt by default — Receipt Maker creates a professional PDF with your logo, line items and VAT, then emails it for each confirmed payment.

How Receipt Maker creates GoCardless PDF receipts
- Connect your GoCardless account (read payment details when a Direct Debit is confirmed).
- Design your receipt template with logo, address and VAT settings.
- Connect email so the PDF is attached and sent to the customer.
- On Pro, turn on Auto Mode so each confirmed payment generates and emails a PDF automatically.

FAQ: GoCardless PDF receipts
Does GoCardless send PDF receipts?
No. GoCardless sends payment-related notifications, not branded PDF receipts with your logo and line items. Receipt Maker generates those PDFs and emails them for you.
Can I download PDFs for my accountant?
Yes. Individual receipts are available in your dashboard, and Receipt Archive in Settings lets you download a ZIP of PDFs plus a CSV summary for any date range.
What’s on the PDF?
Payment date, amount, currency, customer details, payment reference, your business identity, and VAT/line items when configured.
Do I need QuickBooks or Xero?
No. Receipt Maker is standalone: connect GoCardless, design the PDF, connect email, and send — no accounting-platform sync required.
